$3,500 Every Time the EMS is Called

http://abcnews.go.com/Nightline/firefighters-medical-calls-health-costs/story?id=10181852

They had another documentary on another channel about a woman who wouldn't even get into the ambulance when they called because she passed out at work. $1,200 was the fee/bill she received in the mail. :crash:

If you watch above video, however, the endless string of nonsense incompetents' abusing the service is quite frankly sickening, but at the same time, where are these staggering costs allocated?

Sheesh, I'm sick of everything.

So...do you think Obama's New Health Care Bill is going to prevent this exorbitant fee to remain in tact???

The way I see it: We're all fucked (pardon my French). The sick thing about those parasites in that video is that they call for everything, including headaches, diabetic "coma" because they don't take meds, and because of out of control drug abuse. The one fuckin' low life called them again because he thought they "stole money from."

That one engine costs taxpayers $3500 every time they are called - at 25 times a day. That's just one unit.

Did they ever find anything wrong with Rush when he called for EMS? Or is he in that "endless string of nonsense incompetents abusing the service"?

It would have to be life-threatening before I would even think about an ambulance.

I have to call ambulances at work all the time for someone who is having an anxiety attack, or has low blood sugar or who just doesn't feel well...sad part is, they are on a government health care program who pays for it so it doesn't cost them jack shit and they don't care!!!

Yeah, we are all fucked (pardon my French too) but it's so true.

I don't know, and not that I like him, but he pays upwards of at least 50% tax. I'm sure even he is competent enough to go to the f'in doctor if he had a little headache.

He is probably in that "endless string of nonsense incompetents abusing the service" but...he can afford it and it probably won't cost the taxpayers anything like it will with the people on government programs!!!

Therein lies the rub sparky...should a service like this only be for those who can "afford" it??? Should protection against your house catching fire be only for those who can afford it...or should taxpayers pool for a service for all for something that important????

Afford it isn't the problem...abuse of the system is...and by the way...most people who own a house don't OWN it so they have no choice but to have protection via insurance which is usually included in the mortgage payment...so if you can't afford a mortgage payment for protection of that property, you won't have a house...

And as a taxpayer...I wouldn't pool for a service for anyone...I work hard for my money and already give enough of it up out of my paycheck to the government for the stupid programs they have in place for people who sit on their ass all day reaping the benefits of my hard efforts!!!!

This looks like a problem at both ends, both the service being abused and the chief saying all calls are warranted. I'd like to see people who abuse the service be put into a workhouse or something and at the same time I'd like answers about why the taxpayer is footing such a large bill every time.

It's just like the public works chief that resigned recently by me; the workers were taking three hour breaks, breaks when they punch in, doing absolutely no work.

Afford it isn't the problem...abuse is...

What is abuse? 911 decides when to send EMS, cops, fire dept., DHS or whatever...

We don't nonsensically calculate what every false fire alarm costs nor every time the cops come out to rescue a cat from at tree because it's service is paid for from tax pool.

Well DC is a shithole so I would never wanna live there anyway. ;) Do you know if these are state and local taxes, or do we lucky people out west here have to pay for that too?

Remember, you were the one who said the kid who "yelled fire" at the Wal Mart by making a smart ass remark should be prosecuted; same should apply here pal.

State, local..what does it matter... taxpayers pay to a g'ment to provide it...

You pay for the abuses in whatever insurance you have too...get picket signs for that too..

One time I got an injury and went to the emergency room to get stitches and 10 mins later it was $850 for them to use a needle and thread and a little stuff that they rubbed on it beforehand. I thought my insurance had covered it but little did I know my insurance didn't pay it off and I went to collections. I just love the idea that an emergency room visit can possibly affect your credit score. To me, that's fucked up

Post where I said the kid should be prosecuted? I actually said the opposite. This is the problem BS Scott..you read how things sound not what is actually being said.:2 cents:
