Amazing episode but not gonna lie, injured Peco being able to keep up with Olympic Champion Kazama and managing to beat him felt like such an asspull.

As if this anime couldn't get any better. Gooo, Peco! ,
The sportsmanship between Kazama and Peco was amazing! Gotta love that mutual respect. An anime hasn't given me goosebumps like this in a long time.

One more episode to go. Come on Peco!

really nice. figured peco would win since he is symbolized as the hero and kazama needed that in his life (btw amazing character) but i wish it wasn't a huge comeback since it felt kinda dumb.

Real question ... why does the coach/father of Yuri make that facial expression ever time he eats her food?

That was fucking brilliant. Captivating, intense, unique. At first I got slightly disappointed thinking they're going to go with the stereotypical guy no 1 plays like he's losing something is wrong guy no 2 is winning and in the end guy no 1 randomly gets powers and win. But no, instead both guy no 1 and 2 started just... enjoying. Having fun. I love this episode. Time for the last episode.

Narratively, it made sense for Peco to win. I was prepared for that. But watching it happen just felt wrong. Kong crushed Peco and Kazama crushed Kong. And you are telling me Peco improved so much that he could defeat Kazama, the YOUTH OLYMPIC CHAMPION.

I didn't think it could get better than episode six, yet here we are. I don't even know what I watched, but whatever I did watch was beautiful.

Each of these two have different reasons for winning this match, Kazama being because he feels it's his responsibility. Peco wanted, and did win because he loves the game so much that he freed Kazama from his own struggles and reminded him of the joy and excitement of playing Ping Pong. PEAK FUCKING CINEMA.

Now it's the savior vs. the saved....

Peco vs. Smile in the finale! I was wondering if my prediction would be correct, and his knee would hold up. I love how he showed Kazama that Ping Pong could be fun and that he didn't have to worry about the external pressures he was putting on himself. This series is so good. The hero has returned!

@troilus_05s to me it makes all the sense in the world. When Peco lost to Kong he was basically playing like Kazama. He wasn't playing for the love of the game he was just going through the motions. Even Kazama's coach (Uncle) could see it coming. Kazama was not in love with the game, he was the same robot that Smile had been when we first met him. Playing against Peco made him realize this and that is what the story was about characters and their story arcs. I think the thing that showed me this first was the guy Smile beat repapering in different places trying to find himself, at the beach, on the mountain, and then finally back in Japan doing that interview in the airport when he returned home (his journey went full circle). Kazama was not playing for the right reasons and that is why he lost. It took a minute for Peco to let loose and play for the love of the game that is why he was down 2 sets, had he played free from the jump he would have skunked Kazama.

@logic340 Yeah, I agree. That was my initial reaction. My opinion now is quite different.
